Worldwide Amputee Golf Associations
N.A.G.A - National Amputee Golf Association (USA)
Incorporated in 1954, NAGA was comprised of a small group of amputee golfers who played friendly games
that quickly developed into regional tournament play in various cities
across the United States. Today NAGA has over 2500 members worldwide.
E.A.G.A. - Eastern Amputee Golf Association (USA)
The EAGA was formed along the same guidelines as
that of the National Amputee Golf
Association (NAGA) but has its own Officers, Constitution, Bylaws, and
Membership Dues. EAGA's prime purpose is to organize and conduct amputee
golfing events and "Learn to Golf" clinics for any physically
challenged individual, provide communication between its members and act as a
bridge between its members and the National Association.
W.A.G.A. - Western Amputee Golf Association (USA)
The Western
Amputee Golf Association (WAGA), established in 1968, began with
nearly 40 members and a single annual tournament. The organization
has grown steadily and today boasts a membership in excess of 200,
with numerous tournaments staged year round. In addition
to its golf activities, WAGA has raised money for scholarships for
amputees wanting to attend a college program. In addition, its members
work to disseminate information about new developments in prosthetic
devices that allow amputees to participate in sports, and enjoy
life to its fullest.
C.A.G.A. - Canadian Amputee Golf Association (Canada)
It
has been evident over the past number of years, that amputee
golfers in Canada want a truly amputee golf association to
unite and represent them. It is for this purpose that C.A.G.A.
has been structured. C.A.G.A.'s
priorities are to encourage more amputee golf tournaments
throughout the country and to assist organizers in their preparation
and staging of a golf tournament. Whether or not it is a one-day
event for a dozen amputees, or a Pro/Amp tournament, involving
golf professionals, amateur golfers and a field of 128 players,
or a National championship featuring the best amputee golfers
in Canada and around the world, C.A.G.A. will be there.
